iOS 26 beta update reveals live dichction features on AirPods

The iOS 26 beta update reveals the upcoming live translation gestures of AirPods.

At WWDC25, Apple introduced Live Translation for FaceTime, calls and messages, but did not mention an important scenario: live translation in real-life conversations. Now, new signs say the feature is in the works.

In the developer version of iOS 26 beta 6, an image appears describing the simultaneous pressing of two AirPods, a move related to the epidemic application. The display content is in English, Portuguese, French and German, applicable to the 2nd generation AirPods Pro and 4th generation AirPods.

Previous information has revealed that Apple is developing this feature, as an extension of Live Translation already available on FaceTime, messaging, and Phone. This is considered a natural direction for wearables, similar to what Meta Ray-Ban has done.

It is not yet clear which iPhone models will support it, but it is likely that it requires similar compatibleity to other Live Translation features. Observers predict that to meet the extremely low latency for face-to-face calls, the feature could be exclusive on the iPhone 17, which could also be the reason why Apple has not officially announced it.

However, the fact that AirPods will soon be able to be streamed live in real life is enough to make users excited, especially those who often travel or live abroad.
