"Platform model of GenAI", "Practical applications of GenAI" and "Opportunities for Vietnam" are the three main topics at the GenAI Summit 2024 conference taking place in Ho Chi Minh City on August 18.
According to information from the organizers, with the participation of more than 1,000 guests, the conference brought valuable information about advanced AI models and their applications in life.
Dr. Jeff Dean, Google 's Chief Science Officer , opened the conference with an inspiring presentation on Google's latest AI model, Gemini 1.5 Pro, with the ability to process huge volumes of data and create produce high quality multimedia content.
In addition, Dr. Jeff Dean emphasized that the development of AI is not only an advanced technology but also requires great ethical responsibility.
According to him, AI developers must ensure that their systems are efficient and built on a solid ethical foundation.
He also affirmed that AI has the potential to revolutionize many fields, but for AI to maximize its capabilities, it is necessary to invest in education and create conditions for young talents to access this technology.
New bright spot on the AI map
Dr. Vu Duy Thuc and Master Wendy Uyen Nguyen, representatives of the organizing committee, commented that Vietnam is in a unique position to lead AI innovation in Southeast Asia and the world. Speakers at the event agreed that Vietnam has many advantages in developing AI.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Toan, Country Director of Google Cloud, also emphasized Vietnam's unique advantages in the world and region, from the Government's supportive policies to strong international cooperation.
In particular, Google has committed to supporting Vietnam through training and scholarship programs, to develop a high-quality workforce for the AI industry.
Despite having much potential, Vietnam still faces many challenges, especially in building AI infrastructure and attracting talent.
According to Dr. Le Viet Quoc, senior expert from Google, the Vietnamese Government has been introducing many policies to encourage startups and investment in technology. This creates favorable conditions for AI businesses to develop and compete in the international market.
In addition, Ms. Wendy Uyen Nguyen emphasized the need for training and education on AI quickly, especially in the healthcare sector, where AI can make a big impact. Speakers also proposed cooperation between universities, businesses and the government to build a strong AI ecosystem in Vietnam.
GenAI Summit 2024 has created conditions for researchers, entrepreneurs and students to meet, exchange and seek cooperation opportunities. This is an important step to build a strong and closely linked AI community in Vietnam.
