Da Nang aims for 50% of households to use rooftop solar power

Da Nang - By 2030, the city will have 50% of office buildings and 50% of houses using rooftop solar power.

According to the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the city aims to develop an additional 30MW of rooftop solar power capacity by 2030 (data calculated from 2021 to 2030). By 2030, 50% of office buildings and 50% of homes will use rooftop solar power.

By 2030, the city will develop 18MW of electricity from the solid waste treatment plant in Khanh Son; continue to research and survey locations for potential wind power development; strive to develop a wind power project by 2030. Develop biogas energy, natural gas energy, wave energy, small and distributed hydropower.

The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and advise the City People's Committee to implement state management of renewable energy development in the city according to the provisions of law, meeting the scale of renewable energy development according to the Power Plan VIII and the Power Plan Implementation Plan.

Departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns, and related units shall implement tasks and solutions in the Plan according to their assigned functions and tasks. Balance and arrange funds to install rooftop solar power systems at agencies, units, and affiliated units.

The Department of Construction, People's Committees of districts and towns are responsible for coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade and relevant units to introduce investment locations for construction of power source projects (power plants), power grids (power lines and transformer stations) to investors upon request. Appraise, submit for approval or approve according to authority on construction planning for locations and positions for construction of renewable energy power plants and transformer stations.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment coordinates with the Department of Industry and Trade to appraise or give opinions on the contents of demand, planning, land use plans, and environmental protection of renewable energy projects. The Department of Science and Technology coordinates with the Department of Industry and Trade to appraise or give opinions on the technology of renewable energy projects.
