Currently, users can post videos in two forms: regular post or Reels. However, this distinction will be eliminated in the coming time.
At the same time, Facebook will also change the name of the " video" section to "Reels" on the application. According to the platform, the change is only related to how users post content, not affecting the video suggestion algorithm.
Previously, Reels on Facebook was limited to a maximum of 90 seconds and had a different posting process than normal videos. Now, all videos will be processed according to a single process, along with expanded creative tools, to simplify the user experience.
Previously, you had to choose regular or Reels video posting with different processes and tools. Now, we are merging everything to make it easier for users to be creative, said Facebook.
However, this change may be uncomfortable for some users, especially when video recorded vertically is converted to vertical frames. In addition, mixing short and long videos in the same content stream can also be annoying.
After the update, the privacy settings for Reels and Feed will be synchronized. When posting Reels, users will be asked to confirm who can watch the video: public, friends or a specific group.
Facebook said it will gradually deploy this change globally in the next few months, while affirming that the platform will still be a place for all types of short, long or live video content.
