At Largan Precision's annual shareholder meeting, Chairman Lin En-ping said that a major US customer has decided to postpone the launch of a new product to the first quarter of 2027. This has postponed component purchases to the end of this year and is expected to increase production capacity in the fourth quarter.
Mr. Lin did not name specific customers or related products. However, Largan Precision is the main camera lens supplier for iPhone, making this statement attract attention in the context of many rumors about Apple changing the launch schedule of the iPhone 18 line.
According to previous reports, Apple is said to be dividing the iPhone launch into two separate phases for the first time.
High-end models such as iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple's first folding screen iPhone are still expected to be launched in September 2026. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and the next generation of iPhone Air may be pushed back to early 2027.
If this information is accurate, this will be the first time Apple has proactively separated the launch time of its flagship iPhone models since setting an annual release cycle in the fall from the iPhone 4S in 2011.
Analysts believe that the new strategy may help Apple reduce production pressure as the product portfolio expands, while maintaining its appeal and sales at different times of the year.
According to leaked sources, the standard iPhone 18 may not change significantly in design. The device is said to still use a 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 18e version maintains a size of 6.1 inches.
However, Apple has not yet confirmed any changes related to the iPhone 18 launch schedule.
