Meta will test paid subscription packages on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp

Meta plans to test new paid subscription packages on its applications such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp.

Sharing with TechCrunch, a Meta representative said that the new registration packages will unlock higher productivity and creativity, along with expanding artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

In the coming months, Meta said they will provide premium experiences on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, allowing users to access special features and better control how they share and connect, while maintaining core experiences for free.

Meta does not seem to be bound by a single strategy, but will experiment with many different features and subscription packages, and each application subscription package will have a separate exclusive feature set.

Meta also said that they plan to expand the scale of Manus, an AI assistant they just acquired for a price believed to be 2 billion USD, as part of their registered service package.

Meta is applying a two-way approach to Manus. The company will integrate Manus into Meta's products, while continuing to sell individual registration packages to businesses. In addition, Meta has been found to be researching an additional shortcut to Manus AI on Instagram.

In addition, Meta also plans to test subscription forms for AI features, such as creating Vibes videos. Vibes is a short video experience supported by Meta's AI, integrated into the Meta AI application, allowing users to create and remix videos created by AI.

Although Vibes has been provided free since its launch last year, Meta is currently planning to provide freemium access to the Vibes video creation feature, with subscription options to unlock more video creation opportunities each month.

Although it is not clear what the paid features on WhatsApp and Facebook will be like, Meta experts believe that the new registration package on Instagram will allow users to create unlimited followers lists, view lists of followers but not follow them, and optionally view Story that the poster does not know they have viewed.

It is noteworthy that the new registration packages will be separate from Meta Verified. The tech giant said they will use what they have learned from Meta Verified to develop their registered business model, including more services that they believe ordinary users, content creators and businesses will need.

Meta Verified is aimed at content creators and businesses, because it comes with verification badges, 24/7 direct support, anti-counterfeiting protection, search optimization, proprietary labeling and more. Although these features are not aimed at ordinary users or those who are not content creators, new registration packages will be designed for a wider audience.

The launch of more subscription packages will allow Meta to generate more revenue. However, many users may feel tired of having to subscribe to too many packages.

With so many paid services competing to attract users to subscribe to another package, Meta will have to offer an attractive product to convince them to subscribe to another package.
