Spotify Helps Creators Monetize Video Content

Spotify has just launched a new program called “Partners” that allows popular podcast creators to monetize their video content.

This program offers eligible creators on the platform the opportunity to earn additional income beyond ad revenue, such as video bonuses.

The program was first announced in November 2024 and is now officially rolling out in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

The program's goal is to boost Spotify's video podcast library, aiming to compete directly with YouTube - the platform that dominates the video market.

According to Spotify, more than 65% of eligible podcasts have signed up for the program since its launch. Notable shows include Smart Money Happy Hour, The Paranormal Podcast, The Makeshift Podcast, Girls Rewatch Podcast, and many more.

Spotify also allows Premium users to watch video podcasts without being interrupted by ads. The company also launched a new tool called Podcast Clips – short videos used by creators to promote their shows and make it easier for users to find content.

Since the tool was rolled out in select markets in November, Spotify says the clips are 33% more effective at attracting viewers than regular trailers.

The launch of the “Partners” program, along with new features like Podcast Clips and ad-free video access for Premium users, shows Spotify’s efforts to expand and diversify the podcast ecosystem.

This is not only a step forward in the strategy to compete with large video platforms like YouTube, but also creates opportunities for content creators to access new sources of income, bringing increasingly rich and engaging experiences to users.

With these improvements, Spotify is strengthening its position in the digital audio industry, while affirming its role as a comprehensive destination for both music and podcasts.
