In the first quarter financial report for 2025, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that social network Threads has reached more than 350 million monthly active users. This figure increased by 30 million compared to the previous quarter, when Meta announced Threads had 320 million monthly users.
However, Threads is still quite small compared to other platforms in Meta's ecosystem such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. However, Threads' growth rate is gradually affirming its position in the market of short-form blog applications.
In addition, Mark Zuckerberg emphasized that Threads is still on track to become Metas next major social media app.
He said that users' time spent on Threads has increased thanks to improvements in the content recommendation system.
Despite facing many challenges, from long-term user retention to identification with other platforms, Threads' growth is creating a positive signal.
In the context of many traditional social networks looking to adapt to changes in user behavior and pressure from new technology, Threads is considered Meta's next strategic card to shape the future of new-style social networks: concise, instantaneous and more community-based.
