This used to be the domain name of a messaging app startup, but Meta later quietly took over this domain name at an un disclosed price.
Along with the domain name change, Meta also launched a series of notable upgrades to the web version of Threads. Accordingly, users can now compose new articles in their own window while still continuing to browse the bulletin board.
The custom feed browsing interface is also optimized in the form of a single column similar to a mobile application and for the first time, there is an additional shortcut to access saved articles (previously users had to stick to a column to see).
Notably, Meta is testing a new feature that allows users to upload to a list of accounts they follow on the X platform (old social media) and find corresponding accounts on Threads.
The feature is now in the beta stage, with a warning that downloading data from X could take up to three days, suggesting the process is not simple at all.
However, this is seen as Meta's clear effort to attract users from competitors, while exploiting additional behavioral data from outside platforms.
