The dam project to create a landscape in the center of Ha Giang city has a total investment of 330 billion VND, starting in February 2023. The project includes construction items of dams, management and operation bridges combined with traffic of more than 123m long, and approach roads at both ends of the bridge nearly 63m.
The project has a height of 17.5m, creating a lake bed with a length of about 7km, raising the water level of the Lo River at the dam location to 6m. At the same time, it will create a lake bed with a surface area of nearly 54 hectares, a capacity of 2.2 million m3, creating a landscape and regulating the climate.

The water level regulation is carried out with 3 spillways and equipment for raising and lowering the dam using a hydraulic cylinder system. To complete the entire project, it will require 505 tons of equipment steel and 2,550 tons of construction steel, 26,670m3 of concrete.
Recorded by PV in mid-May 2025, after more than 2 years of construction, the shape of the dam has been revealed, many main items have been completed. At the construction site, workers and machinery are mobilized to implement the project. Some construction sites in the riverbed are forced to create water-blocking corridors. The foundations, dam body, and bridge piers have been completed.

Currently, the contractor is focusing on the arched roof, constructing a bridge to complete the project.
On May 17, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Song Tu - Deputy Director of the Ha Giang Province Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the dam project has so far reached nearly 70% of the workload. The goal is to be completed and put into use in 2025.
"Contractors are mobilizing human resources to focus on construction, the items in the lower part of the river surface have basically been completed. The walls will be removed before the flood season begins.
The arch bridge above the dam is being accelerated to complete the project," the leader added.
When completed, the project will help raise and maintain the water level of the Lo River. Climate regulation, ecological environment improvement and tourism development. In particular, the traffic bridge on the dam will connect National Highway 2 with the southern beltway of the city.
