Market context and scale
As society develops, busy parents are still concerned about their children's safety, leading to the need for communication and positioning but not wanting to let their children use smartphones early. In that context, children's smartwatches are becoming an essential device, a solution to solve the above problem.
This market in Vietnam is large in scale and has impressive growth rates. Data from market research company IMRC shows that the smartwatch market for children in the general segment has a scale of 212.8 million USD in 2024 and is expected to reach 982.6 million USD in 2033, with a growth rate of 18.53% in the period 2025-2033.
According to Business Insights, in the smart watch segment for children, the Asia-Pacific region is forecast to grow the fastest globally at a rate of 13.33% from 2026 to 2034. This region accounts for 21.11% of the global market share, with a market size of 0.55 billion USD in 2025.
The increasing urbanization process in Asian countries has led to an increasing demand for child safety, promoting the use of these products. Increased household income also leads to higher spending on non-essential items, including smartwatches for children. In addition, Asian countries, including Vietnam and China, have a solid production platform for wearable devices, helping to improve supply chains.
Vietnam has a young population structure, the number of primary and secondary school students is over 15 million. This shows the potential of the smartwatch market for children in Vietnam is very large. Besides, the price for this product is not too high, from 1-3 million VND parents can buy a device to ensure communication and safety for their children, so purchasing power is increasing day by day.

High competition and challenges
With great potential, the smartwatch market in Vietnam is facing fierce competition from domestic and foreign units such as MyKid, Masstel, Kidcare, Huawei, Xiaomi... with diverse prices, attractive colors and continuous upgrades.
Recently, Huawei launched the new Watch Kids X1 product line right on the occasion of Back to School with a 360 degree folding, opening and rotating design, upgrading the ability to locate accurately even in noisy places such as shopping centers or mountainous areas, with many trees; real-time location updates; usage time management, limiting abuse...
Besides the benefits, the use of smartwatches for children also faces challenges in information security, data leakage, children's images... According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh (Tech Lady) - former Marketing Director of VinCSS Network Security Services Joint Stock Company, recently in Vietnam there have also been cases of parents complaining that strangers continuously text and call their children's smartwatches.
So if you decide to buy, I recommend parents to choose genuine goods with clear security policies, immediately change the default password and enable two-layer authentication for the management application, turn on the mode that only allows numbers in the list of relatives calling and texting, block strange numbers, consider turning off the environmental audio listening feature, update software periodically. The most important thing is that parents also need to guide their children on basic self-protection information and skills," Ms. Quynh Anh recommended.
