Twitter may not restore Blue authentication in the next few weeks, but they are expected to work more cautiously when the feature is back up, according to Engadget.
The social network has updated its Forever asked questions page to warn that new accounts will have to wait 90 days before they can register for paid service Twitter Blue. The company also said the waiting time will be extended "according to our decision without notice".
The new policy comes shortly after Twitter blocked new accounts to join the paid service Twitter Blue. Within two days since the company applied a payment system to verify its identity, the social media service has struggled with countless impersonators and scammers using newly purchased blue tickads to deceive users.
Elon Musk's new company has tried using gray "official" secondary license plates for public organizations and figures, but the new Twitter owner removed the system just hours after it was launched.
Elon Musk added that a "new release" of Twitter will not encourage scammers on the platform by leaving blue tick if they change their name. These accounts will not get their ticks back until Twitter confirms that their new names respect the Service terms offered by the company. However, there is currently no official policy on this issue.
There is a lot of pressure on revised policies like this. US Representative Ed Markey has criticized Elon Musk for easily allowing users to create fake accounts on Twitter with the new verification system, and suggested that Congress intervene if the businessman does not fix his Twitter and other brands.
Twitter is also dealing with internal chaos as employees resign simultaneously in response to Elon Musk's demand for "long and stressful working hours".
