Bumble said the number of paid users of the app continued to decline sharply in Q1/2026, as the platform is undergoing a major overhaul to re-attract young users.
According to the newly released financial report, the total number of paid users of the Bumble application decreased by 21.1% compared to the same period last year, to about 3.2 million people.
The company's total revenue also decreased by 14.1%, to 212.4 million USD. However, the average revenue per paid user increased by nearly 9%.
Bumble founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd said this decline is part of the company's intentional restructuring strategy.
According to Ms. Herd, Bumble is prioritizing "quality over quantity", focusing on truly serious and active users instead of scaling up at all costs.
In the near future, Bumble is expected to implement a series of major changes to improve the online dating experience.
The company is replacing the old technology platform with a new cloud computing system, while integrating artificial intelligence to upgrade pairing capabilities.
One of the notable features is "Bee" - an AI system that can learn user preferences, emotional goals and communication styles to suggest more suitable targets.
According to Bumble, this AI can also explain why two people were paired before they started talking.
Bumble is also testing a new personal profile with more detailed content instead of just displaying photos and short introductions as before.
The company believes that the traditional screen swipe model is gradually outdated and does not create many real-life encounters.
In addition to dating, Bumble also continues to expand the Bumble BFF dating platform. The group feature on this application is said to be growing rapidly in the Z generation women's group.
However, Bumble admits that major changes will take more time to verify effectiveness, as the new experience is expected to be rolled out more widely by the end of this year and early next year.
