Truecaller application launches family fraud prevention feature

The Truecaller application has just launched a new feature that allows a family group administrator to refuse scam calls.

Accordingly, this person will receive a warning about a scam call aimed at another member and may answer the phone remotely on their behalf.

This feature has been successfully tested since December 2025 in Sweden, Chile, Malaysia, Kenya and is currently being deployed globally, including India. Users can use it for free without buying a paid package.

Accordingly, a person who understands technology can manage a group of up to 5 members. Administrators receive fraud warnings on both iOS and Android, but currently only have the right to cut off calls to help Android users.

On Android, administrators are also granted real-time status tracking rights such as walking, driving, battery level and sound mode. This feature is especially useful for protecting the elderly. Administrators can also block international numbers and share blocked lists, but are not allowed to view the call history or personal messages of members.

Product Director of Truecaller Kunal Dua shared: "Unfortunately, we all know someone in our family or friends has been a victim of fraud". He emphasized that this is Truecaller's fundamental shift in solving this problem.

The company is also testing artificial intelligence (AI) to screen and automatically disconnect when detecting fraudulent keywords such as "digital arrest", a trick of impersonating police to extort money.

In the past year alone, Truecaller has identified more than 7.7 billion scam calls in India. However, despite efforts to update, the company is facing major difficulties. The company's stock has fallen more than 80% in the past 12 months. The Q4 2025 report shows operating profits down 49%, advertising revenue down 31%.

Truecaller is a global call recognition and spam blocking application with more than 450 million users. This platform protects the community from scams and spam messages through AI technology and a huge reporting data system.
