As winter approaches, the body often reduces its need to drink water due to less sweating, less exercise and a significantly reduced feeling of thirst.
This can lead to silent dehydration, which can lead to fatigue, dry skin and a weakened immune system.
In the context of increasing air pollution in many places, proper water compensation is even more important.
Clinical nutritionist Rash meet Kaur Gupta (Fast&Up India) said that warm, nutrient-rich drinks can help the body adapt better in the cold season.
Although no drink can completely detoxify the lungs, herbs and foods rich in vitamins can soothe the mucous membranes irritated by polluted air, reduce nasal congestion, sore throat or chest tightness.
When combined with anti-inflammatory nutrients, they also help strengthen the immune system and aid digestion, two factors that are easily affected in highly polluted environments.
Here are seven healthy drinks that Rash meet Kaur Gupta recommends:
1. Curry grass seed water (methi)
Methi seeds contain compounds that support thinning, reduce airway congestion and are rich in soluble fiber that is good for the digestive system.
Just soak a spoonful of methyroid overnight and drink both the water and the seeds the next morning.
2. Licorice tea (mulethi)
Mulethi has natural soothing properties, very useful for people with coughs, sore throats or irritation caused by fine dust. Simmer a few slices of licorice for 57 minutes and drink warm.
3. Turmeric-mentscled amla juice
Amla is rich in vitamin C, combined with curcumin in turmeric to help reduce inflammation and support better liver function. Just mix a spoonful of amla juice, a pinch of turmeric and a little black pepper in half a cup of warm water.
4. Cinnamon tea tulsi
Tulsi (Indian basil) contains respiratory active ingredients, while cinnamon helps stabilize blood sugar. Boil a few tulsi leaves with a small cinnamon stick for 57 minutes to create a refreshing warm tea.
5. Ginger lemon water
Lemon supplements vitamin C, ginger supports acne and reduces inflammation. Add coarse salt to supplement electrolytes, helping the body quickly recover energy.
6. Fennel tea is a coriander
The combination of three types of fennel seeds, coriander and fennel helps support digestion, reduce bloating and a feeling of heaviness after meals. Simmer for 57 minutes and drink warm in the morning.
7. Electrolyte drinks
For people who are active or prone to dehydration, electrolyte broth in the form of a suction is a quick absorption choice, supplementing five essential electrolytes with just a water solution.
Experts also note that each person should consider their health status, medication being taken, and underlying medical conditions before applying the above drinks. Pregnant women especially need to consult a doctor before changing their diet.
