Ethnic policies are effectively implemented to help Khmer people in An Giang improve their lives, stabilize livelihoods, and excitedly welcome the 2026 Chôl Chnăm Thmây Tet.

In recent years, An Giang province has effectively implemented the Party's guidelines, policies, and laws of the State for ethnic minorities, creating conditions for people to develop production and business, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development. Thanks to that, Khmer people celebrate the traditional Tet Chôl Chnăm Thmây 2026 in a joyful atmosphere, with material and spiritual life increasingly improved.

In Dinh Hoa commune, Mr. Danh Be's family (60 years old) is a typical example of good production. From a difficult household, he boldly applied a model of farming combined with raising buffaloes, cows, pigs, and ducks, gradually rising to become well-off. Currently, the family owns nearly 5 hectares of rice land, cultivating 2-3 crops per year, maintaining a herd of 7-8 buffaloes. Each year harvesting about 80 tons of rice, selling 4-5 buffaloes, total income of about 750 million VND, profit of more than 400 million VND. In 2022, he built a spacious house with a budget of over 1 billion VND, according to VNA.

Mr. Danh Be said that this result comes from the family's efforts and support from policies for Khmer people such as borrowing capital, investing in electricity, transportation, health insurance, tuition fee exemption and reduction. When the economy stabilizes, the family actively contributes to the social security fund, donates land to build roads, contributing to building new rural areas and consolidating national unity.

In Ngoc Chuc commune, Mr. Danh Mich's family also celebrated Tet with joy when they had a new house and their daughter had a stable job. With 1 hectare of rice land, he and his wife actively did many extra jobs such as growing straw mushrooms, bundling brooms, and trading vegetables to increase income. Previously, the family received preferential loans, health insurance support, tuition fee exemptions, electricity and clean water, helping to reduce costs and stabilize life. About 5 years ago, the family built a new house worth about 400 million VND, and life became more and more full.

According to Mr. Danh Mich, local infrastructure such as transportation, schools, and Khmer pagodas are invested in spaciously, contributing to improving material and spiritual life. Some pagodas are also equipped with five-tone orchestras, serving cultural activities and preserving traditions.

In Giang Thanh commune, Mr. Danh Hung - a reputable person among the Khmer people - said that the locality has more than 400 households with more than 1,200 people. Thanks to infrastructure investment, travel, trade, and learning are more convenient. Policies to support housing, land, health insurance, loans, vocational training, and job introduction contribute to poverty reduction and promote socio-economic development.

According to Mr. Ngo Cong Thuc, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, the whole province has more than 109,000 Khmer households with more than 364,000 people, accounting for over 8% of the population; of which more than 2,500 poor households and more than 3,000 near-poor households. Khmer people promote patriotic traditions, solidarity, and preserve cultural identity; political security and social order and safety are ensured.

In the coming time, the province will continue to concretize resolutions into practice, pay attention to the material and spiritual life of the Khmer people; promote infrastructure investment, develop education and health, create sustainable livelihoods, and at the same time preserve and promote traditional cultural values.

Along with that, the province continues to effectively implement ethnic policies, especially national target programs on building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas in the period 2026 - 2035; strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to apply scientific advances to production and improve their lives.

Levels of government focus on grasping thoughts, promptly removing difficulties, resolving complaints at the grassroots level, consolidating national defense and security, and maintaining social order. At the same time, focus on building a strong political system in ethnic minority areas, promoting the role of reputable people, contributing to maintaining the great national unity bloc.
