More than 300 people in Ya Ma commune, Gia Lai province are supported with free SIM cards to register and activate level 2 VNeID electronic identification.

Ya Ma commune, Gia Lai province is a particularly difficult area, with more than 73% of the population being ethnic minorities. People live scattered in remote and isolated villages and hamlets, with limited economic conditions, travel and access to technology.

Through review until May 2026, the locality still has more than 1,000 citizens who are 14 years old but do not have phones or SIM cards to perform electronic identification.

Lieutenant Colonel Do Van Dung, Head of Ya Ma Commune Police, said that many people, although being propagated and guided, have not been able to carry out electronic identification procedures because they do not have phones with SIM cards. From this reality, the commune police have advised the Party Committee and government to mobilize resources from officials, unions and businesses in the area to support SIM cards for people.

Up to now, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune coordinated with Ya Ma Commune Police to mobilize more than 68 million VND to buy SIM cards to give to people in difficult circumstances to register and electronically identify VNeID level 2. The funding source has supported 304 citizens, mainly ethnic minorities.

Ms. Phyih, residing in Brang village, Ya Ma commune, said that her family previously did not have a SIM card, and often went to work in the fields for hire, so they did not go to the police agency to make an electronic identification. After being supported with a SIM card and step-by-step guidance, she completed VNeID registration, making it more convenient to carry out procedures and understand more about the benefits of digital transformation.

In addition to giving SIM cards, commune police also directly go to remote villages to pick up and drop off people to register for electronic identification.

Currently, Ya Ma commune still has about 907 unregistered cases. The commune police continue to review and support each case, striving for 100% of eligible citizens to register and activate electronic identification accounts in the near future.
