According to storm news, the latest low pressure from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), Typhoon Fausto is strengthening over the Eastern Pacific region.
As of the afternoon of July 21, the storm has strengthened into a typhoon with the strongest wind currently reaching about 130 km/h.
In the next 1-2 days, Typhoon Fausto will move in a Northwest direction, then move to the West-Northwest and accelerate. Favorable environmental conditions including warm sea water, reduced wind shear and humid air will help Typhoon Fausto continue to strengthen rapidly, possibly reaching a large typhoon level 3 or higher in the next 36 hours.
The storm is forecast to reach maximum intensity on Wednesday evening (July 22nd) with maximum winds reaching 175 km/h. After that, when entering a cooler sea and drier, more stable air, the storm is forecast to gradually weaken.
Because it is still quite far from the mainland, the storm has not caused much impact on the adjacent mainland areas.
Not far away, Typhoon Elida has weakened into a low pressure area and will dissipate in the next 2 days.
In the East Sea, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the afternoon of July 21, the area of the Northern Gulf of Tonkin and the eastern sea area of the Central East Sea and the South East Sea area will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Forecast for the night of July 21 and day of July 22, the area of the Northern Gulf of Tonkin, the eastern sea area of the Central East Sea and the South East Sea area (including Truong Sa special zone) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind at level 6-7, sea waves over 2.0m high.
All ships operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes, strong gusts of wind and high sea waves.
