The latest storm and low pressure news on July 19 from the US National Hurricane Center in Miami said that tropical depression 06e is operating in the eastern Pacific basin with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h, gusts up to 74 km/h.
The new tropical depression formed after Typhoon Elida is expected to move northwest in about 3 days, then move more westward. Some storm forecast models see that tropical depression 06e may strengthen into a tropical storm on July 19 and may become a Category 1 hurricane on the evening of July 20 or July 21.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Elida is currently maintaining tropical storm intensity, with winds of about 100 km/h. The typhoon is moving north and northwest. It is expected that the typhoon will gradually weaken in the next few days as it moves through increasingly cold waters. Elida is forecast to become a typhoon circulation from the morning of July 21st and dissipate at the end of July 22nd.
The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) is also monitoring a low pressure in the Atlantic basin - low pressure 91L formed from July 18. This low pressure has a low probability of developing in the next 2 days, but the average probability will increase next week, as it moves slowly north and northwest. 91L has begun to cause rain in Florida, USA. If it strengthens into a tropical storm, this system will be named Bertha.
