Especially in the Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, southern Phu Tho and Thanh Hoa areas, the common rainfall is from 200-400mm, locally over 550mm.
In Lang Son, Bac Phu Tho, southern provinces of Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Lao Cai and Nghe An, it is forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with common rainfall from 80-170mm, locally very heavy rain over 300mm.
During heavy rain days, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa are likely to experience tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. From the night of September 16, heavy rain in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa tends to gradually decrease.
Due to prolonged heavy rain, low-lying areas, urban areas and industrial parks are at risk of flooding. Heavy rain can also increase the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides in steep slopes.
