The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (July 1st) in regions across the country.
Rainstorms continue to expand in the North, Hanoi warns of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, through monitoring satellite images, weather radar and lightning positioning data, convective clouds are forming and developing in Tung Thien, Doai Phuong and Yen Bai communes (Hanoi City).
In the next 3 hours, the above areas are likely to experience showers and thunderstorms. After that, the convective cloud area will continue to expand, causing rain for communes and wards in the west of Hanoi City. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
In the late afternoon of June 30, moderate rain and heavy rain with thunderstorms appeared in the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong City, with locally very heavy rain. From 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on June 30, rainfall in some places exceeded 80 mm.
Forecast from the evening of June 30 to the night of July 1, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong City will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, common rainfall of 50-100 mm, locally over 250 mm. Risk of heavy rain with intensity, over 100 mm in 3 hours.
Also in the period from the evening of June 30 to the morning of July 1, other localities in the North will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, common rainfall of 20-40 mm, locally over 80 mm.
In the area of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, from Hue City to Lam Dong and the South, in the late afternoon and evening of June 30, it is forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 10-30 mm, locally over 70 mm.
The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, people need to proactively take preventive measures.
According to forecasts, from July 2nd, heavy rain in the Northern region tends to gradually decrease. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and Southern regions continue to have moderate rain, with heavy to very heavy rain in some places accompanied by thunderstorms.
