In the early morning of October 8, most of the central streets of Thai Nguyen were heavily flooded. The circulation of storm No. 11 caused heavy rain from the night of October 6, the water level of Cau River at Gia Bay station exceeded the historical flood peak, many houses were flooded up to the second floor, paralyzing traffic.
Ms. Mai Thao Nguyen, owner of Thao Nguyen Hotel in Quyet Thang Ward, opened the door to welcome local people to stay for free during this difficult time. In addition to supporting accommodation, her family also supported with food and drinks.
After posting the announcement at 10 noon on October 7, in the early afternoon of the same day, the hotel began welcoming the first guests.
She said: "We have 40 rooms, with a capacity of about 100-120 people. We have welcomed 123 people, all rooms are sold out. Some students come to me with the hope of bathing and charging their phones to contact their families".
This area has been without power for the past two days, the hotel has operated a fully generated from stored oil, and staff have to buy more oil in another area. When there is electricity, the tap water will be fully pumped to serve the people.
"As of today (October 8), we may have used up 130-150 liters of oil," said Ms. Nguyen.

The hotel supports snacks including instant noodles, milk, drinks and other snacks. Ms. Thao Nguyen has contacted a number of volunteer groups to support rice meals for local people staying to avoid floods.
"After the post was widely shared, I received many calls. I continuously find phone numbers of relief groups or post cases in need of urgent relief in Thai Nguyen on my personal page for people to receive timely support," she expressed.
In particular, the hotel welcomed a guest who had stayed for free during the flood after super typhoon Yagi in 2024. This year, this person broke his leg, just returned from a hospital in Hanoi when his house was heavily flooded, he went to the hotel and waited for the floodwaters to recede.

The spirit of mutual love spread quickly, not only accommodation facilities such as Thao Nguyen's hotel, but many households, apartment buildings, offices... also welcomed people to avoid the flood for free.
The family of Mr. Do Van Cuong (Thai Nguyen) moved their house to welcome local people to stay for free at this time.
Although there is no extra space to live in, his family owns a number of covered sports fields with toilets in the Song Cong area and coordinates vehicles to directly pick up and drop off local people for accommodation.
