An Giang - Currently, Phu Quoc has almost no empty accommodation rooms during the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday.

On January 16, at the regular press conference in January 2026, Mr. Bui Quoc Thai - Director of An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism informed about the accommodation capacity in Phu Quoc special zone.

Many travel businesses have to buy rooms in advance to proactively welcome large groups of guests during peak times.

From now until the Lunar New Year 2026, the number of visitors to Phu Quoc will be very large, and rooms may be fully booked," Mr. Thai said.

The Department of Tourism calls on tourism businesses to strictly implement full and public price listing, and at the same time update price information on management systems and clearly list at business establishments. In addition, units need to strengthen food safety, environmental sanitation, proactively innovate tourism products, and continue to renovate and upgrade facilities in a clean, beautiful, and civilized direction.

To prepare for the peak of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, the An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism will establish an inter-sectoral inspection team, coordinating with units such as foreign security, immigration, network security, administrative police, fire prevention and fighting... to restore order in tourism activities in Phu Quoc special zone.

Functional agencies will strengthen inspection and review of newly established accommodation establishments that do not meet legal conditions, illegally operating travel agencies, as well as the situation of foreign tour guides practicing in violation of regulations, thereby strictly and thoroughly handling violations.

The Department has issued directives and called on accommodation establishments and travel businesses to develop appropriate tourism stimulus packages, and at the same time promote training and improve the quality of human resources, in order to better meet the needs of serving tourists in the coming time.

Currently, Phu Quoc airport welcomes about 88 flights each day, of which about 50% are international flights. In addition to traditional markets, the number of passengers from India and Malaysia is increasing rapidly, posing new requirements for products, services and service infrastructure.

Mr. Thai also said that during the recent New Year holiday, there were some cases of tourists being scammed when booking rooms through social networks, due to organizations and individuals creating websites and fanpages forging accommodation establishments. Some accommodation establishments sold rooms on online platforms, but due to not updating the actual room status in time, the system still received room bookings even though it was full.

An Giang tourism industry and the Phu Quoc special zone government have established an inter-sectoral inspection team to resolutely handle cases of fraud in booking and "bombing" rooms in Phu Quoc special zone. The police force also actively supports tourists in finding rooms and handling problems arising during accommodation in Phu Quoc.
