The hot season is always a period that makes many parents "headache" because children are prone to sweating, loss of appetite, poor sleep and frequent heat rash. Even just being in a stuffy room or going out in the harsh sun for a while, the baby can also become tired, sluggish or dehydrated.
1. Give your baby enough water and eat cool fruits
Hot weather makes children lose water faster than usual. Mothers should give their babies water regularly throughout the day, especially after exercising or going out. In addition to filtered water, mothers can add soup, milk, and watery fruits such as watermelon, orange, and pear so that babies are not dry.
2. Keep the bedroom airy but avoid direct wind blowing
Many mothers turn on fans or air conditioners strongly to cool down quickly, but if the wind blows directly in, it can make children easily cough and run out of the nose. Mothers should keep the room airy, with stable temperatures, and avoid sudden changes in temperature. If using air conditioning, it should be maintained at a moderate level so that the baby sleeps deeply without dry throat.
3. Wear light, sweat-absorbing clothes
Mothers should prioritize thin, loose-fitting cotton clothes that absorb well. Wearing clothes that are too thick or stuffy makes babies prone to red rashes, heat rash and discomfort. When babies sweat a lot, they should change clothes immediately to avoid catching a cold.
4. Bathe properly, do not bathe too many times
Many people think that when it's hot, the more you bathe, the better. But if you bathe too often, your baby's skin is easily dry and irritated. Mothers only need to bathe once a day, at other times you can wipe your body with a warm towel to keep your baby clean and cool.
5. Limit going out in hot sunny weather
The time frame from about 10 am to 3 pm is the time when UV rays are strongest. If you have to go out, mothers should let their babies wear wide-brimmed hats, wear thin long-sleeved shirts, wear glasses and cover them carefully. Young children should not be exposed to the sun for long because they are prone to heat shock.
6. Prevent heat rash by keeping skin dry and ventilated
Erythema is the most common problem in hot weather. Mothers should dry the neck, back, armpits, and groin after the baby plays or sweats. Avoid applying too much thick cream or powder that clogs the skin. The most important thing is still to keep the baby's body clean and ventilated.
Taking care of children in hot weather is not difficult, just need mothers to pay attention to enough water, enough coolness, enough ventilation and avoid harsh sunlight. When the baby is comfortable, sleeps well, and eats well, mothers are also relaxed.
