In the program Vo Chong Son, the story of the couple Bui Binh Dong (born in 1988) and Cao Thuy Diem (born in 1991) from Da Nang moved the audience. From two young people in love as students, they have gone through turbulent years together, divorced and found each other again in a new journey full of forgiveness, understanding and faith.
Cao Thuy Diem is currently a Korean tour guide in Da Nang, while her husband - Mr. Bui Binh Dong is a content creator and freelancer. Their story began when they both lived in the same row of houses in their first years of college. "At that time, I was impressed because Diem was gentle and cute, every time I went to ask for fish sauce or garlic, she gave it," Mr. Dong recalled.
Gradually, the "brick" phone messages (ie old phones, only phone calls) became a beautiful, simple but sincere love story.
After seven years of being in a long-distance relationship, they got married in 2014. A year later, Diem gave birth to her first child. But the incident quickly happened until Mr. Dong got into gambling and was in debt, accumulating up to 800 million VND. "At first, I thought my husband was working, but I didn't expect him to fall into the trap. When I learned the truth, I was shocked and could only hug my child and go back to my parents, Diem shared. The young marriage fell into a dead end. The two officially divorced when their child was just over two years old.
After that, Mr. Dong fell into a deadlock and had been locked up in his room for many months. But then looking back, he realized that he had lost everything - family, honor and love. He started from a small job, from selling clothes in the market, selling goods for walking to driving a tourist car. To get my wife back, I had to change and start over, he said.
Meanwhile, Diem also tries to raise children and study to get a tour guide certificate. Although they are no longer tied, the two still occasionally text and ask about each other. It took nearly three years from 2016 to the end of 2018 for Mr. Dong to prove his change and receive a nod from his ex-wife.
In 2019, they decided to reunite and rent a house in Da Nang to start a new life together. He was a tour guide, while Diem worked as a Korean tour guide. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the two returned to their hometown to avoid the epidemic, then welcomed another boy. They registered to get married again in 2021, marking a new start after many years of broken marriage.
Although their marriage has recovered, their married life still has times of conflict. Diem admitted that her husband was often drunk and sometimes indifferent, while Mr. Dong thought his wife was hot-tempered and volunteered. But both of them know how to reconcile. I understand that he lost everything, so I really appreciate the present. As for me, I still want to keep my family so that my child can have full parents, Diem shared.
In front of the program, Mr. Dong emotionally apologized to his wife: "I apologize for the mistakes that made me suffer. I promise to never let you down again".
