Post-retirement considerations
In his 40s, Mr. Huynh Phuoc Hoang (office worker, Can Tho City) said that recently he has begun to pay more attention to preparing finances for the post-retirement period. Previously, most of his income was spent on family expenses and raising children, so he did not prioritize long-term accumulation.
However, the older he gets, the more he realizes that he needs a separate contingency fund so that he will not completely depend on his children later. According to Mr. Hoang, maintaining social insurance, health insurance and forming a habit of saving early will help workers be more proactive when entering retirement age.
I think it's not necessary to save too much each month, the important thing is to maintain it regularly. With savings and insurance, it will be less worrying later," Mr. Hoang shared.
Meanwhile, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc (43 years old, accountant, Can Tho City) shared that preparing for retirement age is not only about money but also needs to consider health and the ability to continue working.
Ms. Ngoc plans to find a light job that is suitable for her health after retirement to both have more income and maintain social activities and communication.
Later, if I still have health, I still want to do a suitable job, without needing too high income. Having a job to do, having more income, I will also be more proactive in life," Ms. Ngoc confided.
Accumulated from basic things
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy (Managing Director of the Faculty of Finance - Banking, Nguyen Trai University) said that one of the current gaps is that many people are not prepared for life after retirement. When daily work stops, many people may be disappointed and lost direction if they do not have a plan for the next stage.

According to experts, many people may fall into crisis after retirement, from mental crisis to financial crisis, leading to disorientation. Therefore, preparations for this stage need to be carried out early.
We must prepare them psychologically; about life after retirement and even financial plans for this period. Because after retirement, life continues with many essential expenses, as well as large expenses when incidents occur," Mr. Huy said.
Not only financially, people also need to equip themselves with knowledge related to life planning, health care, nutrition and activities suitable for the post-retirement period.
Regarding how to start, Mr. Huy said that people can build a foundation from basic things such as saving, maintaining social insurance, health insurance and improving investment knowledge. Besides, they can open a business household or choose jobs they love but still create value for society.
The important thing is to prepare knowledge in advance. Each person needs to spend a certain budget to improve business capacity, investment and proactive healthcare," Mr. Huy said.
