Nam Goong Min shared for the first time about the difficult process for him to successfully conquer his wife - model and actress Jin Ah Reum.
According to Nam Goong Min, he met his wife through a very coincidental occasion.
Korean media once reported that Nam Goong Min and Jin Ah Reum met while working together as director and actress in the movie "Light My Fire" in 2015.
Nam Goong Min recounted, “I have never revealed this story before… At that time, I was planning to fly to China to film a movie, but the main actress got injured, so the filming was postponed for 2 months. I thought about what I should do during those 2 months, so I decided to film another movie that I had written the script for.
I gathered the staff and filmed the movie with my own money. There was a female character who didn't have any lines. She looked like a model, and that was Jin Ah Reum. We never talked while filming.
I got her phone number from a friend. She was shocked when I called her.”
The actor then shared that he was rejected by Jin Ah Reum many times and he intended to move on before the actress accepted his feelings.
“I have no skills in dating because I am usually too honest. I am good at keeping quiet, but I have to express my feelings. I heard that when someone keeps telling you they like you, you will eventually lose the feeling. She also told me that she did not like me.
Finally, before leaving for China, I asked her to meet me one more time. That night, she refused me again.
I'm the type of person who won't stop if I get turned away, but when I went through immigration after my flight, I received a long text message from her. She said I was turned away because I was rushing, and she felt I was being unreasonable.
Then we met when I returned to Korea. It took a while after I returned for us to start dating.
One day, when I brought her home, she suggested we go out for a beer. While drinking a glass, I asked her if she would be my girlfriend. But she wasn't very happy and told me that I should have asked her sooner" - the actor shared about his journey to conquer his wife.
After 7 years of dating, Nam Goong Min and Jin Ah Reum got married in October 2022.
Earlier this year, Nam Goong Min was suddenly caught up in rumors of having an affair with actress Ahn Eun Jin , 13 years his junior , after only 1 year of marriage. Because the two had such a good chemistry in the movie "My Dearest".
But Ahn Eun Jin directly denied it. She declared that she and Nam Goong Min were victims of the award news on YouTube.
Nam Goong Min is still the most famous 7X actor on Korean screens. In May this year, Nam Goong Min was honored as Best Actor (TV series) at the Baeksang Arts Awards, for his role in "Beloved" - the work that won the Best TV Series award.
