During the April 30 - May 1 holiday, besides sea trips or returning to their hometowns, many families in Hanoi choose to camp in areas around Hanoi. This is considered a suitable choice for families with young children, both saving travel time and helping children have more outdoor play space.
Ms. Van Anh (Van Quan ward), said that her family decided not to travel far because they were worried about the crowded scene and increased costs during the holidays. Instead, the whole family chose to camp in Ecopark - the suburbs of Hanoi so that their children could exercise more.
“My child is still young, so my family prioritizes nearby destinations with airy space and basic services. Camping around Hanoi helps my child go out to play, breathe fresh air and parents are not too tired. If my child is tired or the weather changes, the family can still take the initiative to go home early,” Ms. Van Anh shared.

According to Ms. Van Anh, when taking children camping, the most important thing is to prepare personal belongings, basic medicines, sunscreen, hats, thin jackets and enough drinking water. The family also chooses locations with toilets, resting places and support services to be more convenient when going with young children.
Also choosing to camp during the holidays, Ms. Minh Ha (Yen So ward) said that this is a fun form suitable for young families. Instead of taking her children to indoor playgrounds, she wants her children to have the opportunity to observe trees and insects, learn how to help parents prepare food and clean up after the picnic ends.
Moving from my house to Yen So park is also quite close, so during the holidays I take advantage of inviting friends to go camping together. Camping is not just for fun, but also helps children learn many small skills. Children know how to pack things themselves, maintain general hygiene, do not litter and know how to play with friends. I think these experiences are very necessary, especially for children living in urban areas," Ms. Minh Ha said.

However, many parents also believe that camping with young children needs to be prepared carefully. Families should inquire in advance about the location, weather, parking area... For places near lakes, streams or areas with steep terrain, adults should always observe children, not let children arbitrarily go far away from the tent area.
In addition, families should bring trash bags, limit the use of disposable plastic items and collect all trash before leaving.
