The opportunity came when Mrs. Truong Thi Cam returned from Ho Chi Minh City to visit her paternal hometown in Vinh Long, where Mr. Hoang Cam was living and working. Every year, Mr. Hoang Cam always looked forward to the occasion of the death anniversary of the “next door” because Mrs. Truong Thi Cam returned to her hometown. He said that he had been “watching” for her for 5 to 6 years.
Mrs. Truong Thi Cam shared that at that time, her husband often played with his cousin, and every death anniversary was very crowded, so when they met, they often teased each other. After that, the two gradually got to know each other and developed feelings.
In response to MC Dinh Toan's question about whether the couple ever raised their voices at each other, Mr. Hoang Cam humorously shared: "Actually, I am very proud that since the day I got married, we have never argued."
After many years of wandering, the couple decided to put everything aside and go on a backpacking trip to regain their youth. “If I go, she can’t go because she’s busy with business,” Mr. Hoang Cam shared. He told his wife to stay home and rest assured, he would go first and when she retired, he would take her.
The couple’s child living far away also supported Mr. Hoang Cam and Mrs. Truong Thi Cam’s decision to “travel”, even sending money back to encourage their parents to go on a trip. The children at home also repeatedly advised Mrs. Truong Thi Cam to rest and not to continue her business, and in the end she decided to follow her children’s wishes.
Mr. Hoang Cam said that the couple's first trip was to Da Lat, and the trip to Mang Den they took a lot of pictures. Before his sharing, MC Dinh Toan asked how long and how the couple had prepared before the trip. He revealed that the "backpacking" equipment was always prepared in advance, ready to go as soon as they wanted to go. In addition, Mr. Hoang Cam also brought patching tools and a pump for the bike, ready for any situation.
Ms. Truong Thi Cam said that many people wondered if she had back pain, but she said “no”. Her husband also shared with “backpackers” that, besides health being the most important thing, they also have to love nature, otherwise if they go for a long time, they will easily get sleepy and bored.
The couple also agreed with MC Dinh Toan that “traveling” is an opportunity for the two to get closer. Mr. Hoang Cam always cares about his wife sitting behind the motorbike, paying attention to whether she is tired or hungry. There was also a time when the couple had a car breakdown on the road, but he resolved it himself. “He takes care of everything for her,” Mrs. Truong Thi Cam shared.
Mr. Hoang Cam prepares an electric kettle and always brings along a full set of bowls and chopsticks. Even the task of washing the bowls and chopsticks after use is handled by Mr. Hoang Cam.
Ms. Truong Thi Cam added: “Only now do I feel that long trips like this are really enjoyable. It makes me love life more, be happier, and have no worries at all.”
Closing the program, Mr. Hoang Cam expressed his happiness at being able to accompany his wife on "backpacking" trips.
