BIGBANG closed three concert nights at Goyang Stadium (Korea) with more than 100,000 spectators. After 8 years and 8 months of returning to the stage with a 3-member lineup, G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung not only recreated the series of hits that made their name but also sent a signal about the group's next journey.
In the last performance on August 23, Taeyang mentioned the period of nearly a decade since BIGBANG last held a concert. "It's been 8 years and 8 months since BIGBANG last performed. I think we can do this until we are 88 years old," the male singer shared. The saying received cheers from tens of thousands of fans, becoming one of the most memorable moments of the 20th anniversary concert series.
Taeyang's statement shows that BIGBANG does not see this comeback as a simple opportunity to look back at the past. After a long period of interruption, G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung are heading towards a new phase with a 3-member lineup.
From August 21 to 23, BIGBANG will hold "XX: COSMOS" at Goyang Stadium, Gyeonggi province (Korea). This is the group's first concert in Korea since "Last Dance" in December 2017, and also kicks off the world tour 2026-2027 including 33 performances in 19 cities around the world.
The comeback took place right after BIGBANG released "BiiiG" on August 19, on the occasion of their 20th anniversary of debut. This is the group's first new song since "Still Life" in 2022. After its release, "BiiiG" quickly rose to the top of Melon TOP100 and achieved high rankings on many music charts in Korea.
At the concert, BIGBANG performed "BiiiG" live for the first time in front of fans. However, this song does not seem to be the only product marking the group's 20-year milestone. The members continuously hinted at the possibility of continuing to release new music in the near future.
Daesung said it would be a pity if the 20th anniversary activity was only marked by one song. Taeyang humorously played the word that if BIGBANG only stopped at "BiiiG", then the 20th anniversary product would no longer be as "big" as the name suggests, but could only be "X-Small". G-Dragon then said he would start working immediately if there was a suitable song, thereby opening up the possibility that the group would continue to return to the studio.
BIGBANG spends most of their time looking back at their two-decade musical journey. "Fantastic Baby", "Hands Up", "Tonight", "Haru Haru", "Lies", "Blue", "Loser", "Bae Bae", "Bang Bang Bang" and "We Like 2 Party" are performed in turn. With a list of 32 songs, the program combines the group's hits with each member's solo performances, lasting about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Individual performances continued to highlight the unique colors of G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung. Daesung brought a vibrant atmosphere with "Universe", "Wings" and "Look at Me, Gwisun". Taeyang showed his strengths in voice and dance through "Bad", "Ringa Linga" and "Live Fast Die Young". G-Dragon performed "POWER", "Crayon" and "Crooked" respectively, maintaining his signature performance style.
The scale of the stage is also invested commensurate with the special milestone. The 23-ton portable LED system combined with a design inspired by the universe, synchronized with the theme "COSMOS". The performance is supported by a live band, bringing a new look to many familiar songs.
In the encore part, the group continued to perform "Heaven", "Sunset Glow", "Last Farewell" and "Feeling". In the last night alone, BIGBANG unexpectedly added "Flower Road" to the performance list, closing three days of returning to the stage in front of more than 100,000 spectators.
After Goyang, BIGBANG will continue "XX: COSMOS" in 19 cities in North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia. With a large-scale launch, the group not only marks 20 years of operation but also shows that its appeal is still maintained after many years of interruption.
