BIGBANG marked 20 years of operation with an impressive comeback. Just a few hours after its release, "BiiiG" rose to number 1 on a series of major music charts in Korea, showing that the group's appeal is still maintained after more than 4 years of absence.
Released at 6 pm on August 19, "BiiiG" quickly topped the real-time charts on Melon, Genie, Bugs and Vibe. Notably, the song only took an hour to advance straight to the No. 1 position in Melon's TOP100 chart.
This achievement is even more noteworthy when "BiiiG" is BIGBANG's first new music product since "Still Life", released in April 2022. The period of more than 4 years without new songs does not reduce the interest in the group. Conversely, the reappearance shows that the number of listeners is still ready to welcome BIGBANG's new music.
Not only topping the charts, "BiiiG" also recorded high interest in the early days of release. On Melon, the song set a record for the number of listeners in the first hour among songs released in Korea in 2026. This is a notable milestone for a group that has been active for two decades.
“BiiiG” has a high-energy hip-hop color, highlighted by a strong beat and catchy hook. G-Dragon participates in writing lyrics and composing, contributing to maintaining BIGBANG's characteristic musical color. Rap, vocals and wordplay create a combination of familiar style and the group's new look.
The comeback also took place right at the time BIGBANG celebrated their 20th anniversary. Debuting in 2006, the group quickly became one of the names with a great influence on K-pop with a series of songs such as "Lies", "Haru Haru", "Fantastic Baby" and "Bang Bang Bang".
After many changes in the lineup, BIGBANG is currently active with three members G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung. The fact that "BiiiG" quickly topped the charts shows that the group's appeal is still maintained, not only thanks to past hits but also from the audience's anticipation for new products.
The MV "BiiiG" continues to exploit images associated with BIGBANG's journey. Bang Bong, spatial images and details reminiscent of previous products are included in the MV, creating a connection between the group's history and current images.
After making a mark on the charts, BIGBANG continues to aim for live stages. From August 21st to 23rd, the group will hold three performance nights at Goyang Stadium (Korea), opening the 20-year anniversary world tour.
BIGBANG WORLD TOUR" is expected to reach 19 cities with a total of 33 performances in North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia.
With "BiiiG" continuously leading the charts right from its release, BIGBANG had a prominent warm-up for the 20th anniversary series. This achievement continues to show the group's special position and the appeal that remains after two decades of operation.
