According to News1, on May 15, Judge Lim Jae Nam of the Criminal Court No. 2 at Jeju District Court held the first trial of the case of actress Hwang Jung Eum, 41, prosecuted for violating the Law on Enforcement of punishments for Special Economic Crimes (Seapore).
According to the indictment, Hwang Jung Eum was prosecuted without detention on charges of embezzling about 4.34 billion won of the company's money until December 2022, including 700 million won in the company's loan amount under the name of "interim", to invest in virtual currency.

Hwang Jung Eum's side admitted the allegations in the indictment. The actress's representative said: "We do not argue about the indictment. However, the defendant invested in virtual currency with the intention of developing the company.
Because the company's legal entity could not directly own the cryptocurrency, she temporarily invested under her personal name, which led to the crime.
The lawyer added: "Because all the profits of the company arise from the defendant's activities, in essence, that property belongs to the defendant. She sold a part of virtual currency to overcome damage and plan to sell real estate to refund the rest.
Hwang Jung Eum has proposed postponing the trial to give him time to complete the compensation, and the court has approved it.
