"The Wind Across the Blue Sky" - a Vietnamese version of the famous Chinese film "30 Not yet Is Over", is attracting great attention from the audience. The character of director Dang played by Doan Quoc Dam is often jokingly called "Vietnamese documentary", based on the prototype of Ly Trach Phong in the original.
However, since the film aired, Dang's image has caused much controversy. Many people compare him with the "general" Ly Trach Phong of the Chinese version.
Especially after the scene of a few showers full of guilt when betraying his wife during Dang's drunkenness, this character became the center of attention.
This scene caused Doan Quoc Dam's image to be "drowned" on social networks, when some audiences thought that he was less attractive than the "handsome" baths often seen in Korean or Chinese films. However, this is a detail that has been Vietnamized to more clearly demonstrate the inner struggles of the character, not for the purpose of showing off his body.
Not only in the swimming scene, Doan Quoc Dam was also commented as "not suitable for the role of a CEO" when the character Dang was described as a man who moved the secretary. Some scenes such as being drunk, being guided back by a secretary and almost kissing in the elevator were also considered "unconvincing".
In the Vietnamese version, Dang is just a director of an event organizer company, a man with a beautiful wife, good children, living close and daily. He is not the model of a "domineering CEO" coming from a broken heart, but a man with flaws, sometimes weak, but very real.
Doan Quoc Dam once shared that he will not make any copy of anyones characters because that is not working.
The actor admitted that compared to the original, he was not as beautiful as the appearance, handsome and charismatic, nor was he similar to the personality of the Chinese version. To find such a comprehensive person, Vietnam is not lacking at all. However, the director chose and I accepted the project, I did not build a character that many people thought was a master of the profession, but I became a character so that when I saw Vietnamese people, I would feel a little low- pitch person with such a personality, we have met in the current society in Vietnam, not a dreamy, dreamy character", Doan Quoc Dam said.
The Vietnamese version of "The Wind Across the Blue Sky" has had many details edited to suit the culture and psychology of the Vietnamese people, instead of being original from the Chinese version.
If in the Chinese version, the character Hua Hoan Son had many acts of being self-conscious when he brazenly bought a house for a "third party" and did many things contrary to the morality of a husband, in the Vietnamese version, Dang was built a lot less, there were also people who felt regretful and torn because they were not alert while drunk.
And despite much controversy, that is what makes Doan Quoc Dam's role as Dang a special highlight - an imperfect but honest "general".
