The movie journey "Yumi's Cells" officially closed. In season 3, the work held the top 1 on the Tving platform, and also ranked top 2 on weekly discussions with 16.10% and achieved the highest rating in all 3 seasons (8.7 points), showing the stable influence of the series.
In the last 2 episodes released on May 4, Yumi (Kim Go Eun) and Soon Rok (Kim Jae Won) officially entered marriage after a turbulent love journey. Previously, Yumi had rejected a confession of love for fear of repeating old hurts, but Soon Rok's sincerity made her change.
The character Soon Rok attracted attention with his confession: "No matter what I think, I still like you. Maybe I liked you from the beginning", along with the admission "I think I will regret it", becoming one of the strong emotional scenes in the final stage.
After officially dating, the relationship between the two developed in a gentle but clear direction. Soon Rok even broke personal principles to protect his feelings, and actively proposed after a short period of dating, affirming his certainty in his choice.
On Yumi's side, the character has a clear maturity in her view of love. As shared in the last episode: "Love always surprises us, because no love is repeated the same. Therefore, Soon Rok is a completely different world. When facing someone with a different love viewpoint than you, applying old experiences becomes meaningless.
Yumi and Soon Rok's happy wedding is considered a fulfilling ending, making the audience smile after a long journey accompanying the character.
Not only creating a domestic effect, "Yumi's Cells 3" also recorded positive achievements in the international market. The work topped the weekly paid subscriber chart for 3 consecutive weeks on Tving, and the viewership rating in episode 7 broadcast on tvN increased.
In the international market, the film reached number 1 on Rakuten Viki in the US, Europe, Middle East and Oceania for 2 consecutive weeks, topped Inche TV platform in Mongolia and reached number 3 on Disney+ Japan.
After being broadcast, the ending of the film received many positive feedbacks. Audiences expressed regret when the series ended, and at the same time assessed that this is one of the typical rom-com (romantic comedy) works, maintaining its appeal until the last minute.
With a journey lasting through many seasons, "Yumi's Cells" is considered to have completed the whole story of the main character. Yumi not only found her dream, matured in her work but also found love, and learned to let go of her injuries to move on.
This is also similar to the message that screenwriter Kim Kyung Ran sent: "Like the cells in Yumi always put'your own happiness' first, each of us also has such'cells' inside us. Remember that and try your best".
