The new TV series "Reborn rookie" (Vietnamese title: Chairman Trainee) tells the story of Kang Yong Ho (Son Hyun Joo) - the powerful chairman of Choi Sung Group.
After an unexpected accident, his soul is swapped into the body of Hwang Jun Hyun (Lee Jun Young) - a former young football player who was once expected but whose career broke down due to an accident. From here, Kang Yong Ho is forced to start his life again with the status of a new employee right at the company he used to run.
Sharing about the reason for accepting to participate in the project, Lee Jun Young said that he was attracted by having to portray two completely opposite personalities in the same character. "Being able to transform into both Hwang Jun Hyun and Kang Yong Ho in the same project is a very attractive challenge for me. The script is also very interesting, so I decided to participate without hesitation," he said.
According to Lee Jun Young, before being swapped soul, Hwang Jun Hyun was an energetic guy, always striving to pursue his football dream. However, after carrying the soul of the group chairman, the character began to completely change in temperament and behavior.
To create a clear difference between the two character versions, Lee Jun Young said that he spent a lot of time researching the way of speaking, tone of voice and demeanor of the character Kang Yong Ho played by Son Hyun Joo.
I have paid a lot of attention to the way senior Son Hyun Joo talks and daily gestures to be able to recreate them most naturally. I also reviewed many videos from senior's previous projects" - the actor shared.
In addition to the element of soul swapping, Lee Jun Young believes that the attractiveness of "Pilot Chairman" lies in the series of unexpected situations that Kang Yong Ho encounters when having to live in the status of a young person and return to the office environment from the lowest position.
Korean media assessed that this is still a project to help Lee Jun Young expand his image after a series of diverse roles in the past, especially in psychological and action films.
Film "Pilot Chairman" is scheduled to air on May 30.
