People's Artist Lan Huong was born in 1963 in Hanoi. In 1973, People's Artist - director Hai Ninh sought actors for the movie "Hanoi Baby".
This role marked a major turning point in the life and career of People's Artist Lan Huong. From the role of baby Ngoc Ha in director Hai Ninh's film, People's Artist Lan Huong has the nickname "Hanoi Baby Lan Huong" to distinguish her from People's Artist Lan Huong "Bong" at the Vietnam Drama Theater.
Now I am over 60 years old, but when I go out, I am still affectionately called "Hanoi Baby" by many audiences (laughs).
Baby Ngoc Ha's role brought me many special memories. I remember, when I first met my husband Tat Binh. At that time, I was still young, only 14-15 years old, coming to the Youth Theater to study. My husband was 14 years older than me. I called Tat Binh "uncle", addressed himself as "nephew". My husband came to the Youth Theater and said, "I heard that a girl who played "Hanoi Baby" came here to study, right? Let's go see her, she said she is very beautiful".
At that time, I was wearing a scarf. The scarf was given by Uncle Hong Sen (director of "The Wild Field"). My husband flipped over the scarf to check his face, then turned it away, and added "This is said to be very beautiful". I was very annoyed, at that time I thought to myself, why is this uncle so unlucky..." - People's Artist Lan Huong recounted.
Fate has connected People's Artist Lan Huong and Meritorious Artist Tat Binh. In 1995, Meritorious Artist Tat Binh embarked on the TV series project "People Living Beside Me", People's Artist Lan Huong played the female lead Nguyet Ha. This is also a turning point role for People's Artist Lan Huong on the small screen.
In a conversation with Lao Dong reporters, People's Artist Lan Huong said: "Two outstanding roles in my life are Ngoc Ha (Hanoi Baby) and Nguyet Ha (People Living Around Me). Both roles are named "Ha" which made me feel that Ha brings me luck. Later, when I received the film script, I only hoped that the character I played would be named... Ha (laughs)".

Currently, People's Artist Lan Huong and Meritorious Artist Tat Binh have both retired. According to the female People's Artist, they live peacefully together, enjoying the quiet space of retirement life, taking care of trees together, cooking rice, watching movies...
“We have lived together for so many years, a long journey of life, going through life's ups and downs together. There are almost no significant conflicts between me and Mr. Binh. Someone said, Mr. Binh's biggest weakness is loving his wife. That's right. I also love and cherish my husband very much” - People's Artist Lan Huong said.
People's Artist Lan Huong added that after many pension increases, most recently she was increased from more than 8 million VND/month to 9 million VND/month. When she first retired, People's Artist Lan Huong only received about 5 million VND/month.
