Thu Ky won an international award at her first attempt as a director.

On the evening of September 26, Taiwanese actress Thu Ky won the Best Director award at the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) for her debut film "Girl".

In her speech, Thu Ky thanked the entire film crew, producer, and investors for her work.

The actress emotionally shared: "I am extremely grateful to the great masters of the film industry over the past 30 years. They have guided me for all these years.

I am even more grateful to director Hau Hieu Hien. Without him, there would be Girl - my first film as a director.

To all the girls with heart wounds, I hope you will bravely walk and look forward to your bright future."

In addition, Thu Ky did not forget to express her special gratitude to her husband, Phung Duc Luan: "Thank you to my husband for always supporting and accepting me, thank you for marrying a woman who does not often stay at home".

This award is even more meaningful to Thu Ky. Because "Girl" depicts the turbulent days in the life of female student Tieu Le (played by Bach Tieu Anh), when there was a violent, drug- addicted father and a strict mother - inspired by Thu Ky's own life experiences as a child.

Before being honored at the Busan International Film Festival, "Girl" entered the main competition category of the Venice International Film Festival and entered the Centrepiece category of the Toronto International Film Festival.

The copyright of the film "Girl" has been sold to France, Japan and many other countries. In October, the film will be screened at the Lumiere Film Festival in France.

Many famous actors such as Li Bang Bang, Zhou Jin, and Tran Kong quickly sent their congratulations to Yu Qi, a historic milestone in her career.

This year, the Busan International Film Festival introduced the official award category for the first time. 14 outstanding Asian films competed in 5 categories of the "Busan Awards".

Best Film: "Gloaming in Luomu" (director Truong Lo - China).

Best Director: Thu Ky (Girl movie - China).

Special award of the Jury: Han Chang Iok (director of the film "Funky Freaky Freaks" - Korea).

Best Actor: Lee Ji Won (firm "En Route To"; Takumi Kitamura, Yuta Hayashi and Go Ayano (firm "BAKA's identity").

Art contributions: Ryu Chang and Tu Nan (art director of the film "Resurrection" - China).
