On June 16, the Hong Kong Supreme Court (China) issued a ruling on the contract dispute between actress Truong Ba Chi and former manager Du Duc Hung and AEG Entertainment Group Limited.
Judge Au Duong Hao Vinh declared Truong Ba Chi winning the lawsuit, rejected all plaintiff's lawsuit, and at the same time requested the plaintiff's side to pay the procedural costs to Truong Ba Chi's side.
Previously, Yu Yuxing and AEG Entertainment Group Limited filed a lawsuit with the court, claiming that they respectively signed with Cecilia Cheung a "Global Exclusive Management Contract" in July 2011 and a "Contract to participate in 2 of Cecilia Cheung's films" in May 2012.
The plaintiff's side said that they had prepaid a total of 42.76 million HKD (about 143.5 billion VND) in filming fees and requested Truong Ba Chi to participate in 6 films.
Yu Yuxing accused the actress born in 1980 of not fulfilling her contract obligations and demanded compensation of at least HKD 12.76 million (approximately VND 42.8 billion).
According to sources, when directly going to court to participate in cross-interrogation, Cecilia Cheung had to endure great mental pressure. Throughout the testimony process, she was always in a state of tension and was emotionally moved many times, bursting into tears in court.
Facing these accusations, Truong Ba Chi's side presented a pivotal rebuttal argument in December 2025, declaring that the "Global Monopoly Management Contract" mentioned above was a fake document, and questioning why there was no third party witness when such an important document was signed.
After comparing the related documents, the defense side questioned that this document was a deliberately fabricated document, and the important signature on the contract was not entirely signed by Truong Ba Chi herself.
In addition, the lawyer of the "Comedia King" beauty emphasized in court that the real reason for the suspension of a series of film projects at that time completely stemmed from errors in coordination and management decisions of Du Duc Hung personally, not because the artist intentionally violated the contract or did not cooperate.
The actress's side also pointed out that later it was Du Duc Hung who took the initiative not to continue arranging acting work for her.
After the trial process, the court finally accepted the arguments and legal views of Truong Ba Chi's side, and at the same time rejected all compensation requests made by the plaintiff.
Therefore, the prolonged lawsuit from 2020 ended with a complete victory belonging to Truong Ba Chi.
