According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, 242 schools participated in this year's exam, of which 223 schools had students winning prizes, accounting for 92.15%.
Among these, 158 public schools had students winning prizes (70.85%) and 65 non-public schools had students winning prizes (29.15%).
The whole city has 41 schools with first prize winners, including 37 public schools and 4 non-public schools.
Some schools with high prizes include: Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (305 prizes), Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (202 prizes), Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (177 prizes), Gia Dinh High School (156 prizes), Nguyen Thuong Hien High School (142 prizes), Mac Dinh Chi High School (125 prizes), Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (117 prizes), Nguyen Huu Huan High School (115 prizes).
Previously, on March 4, the city-level 12th grade excellent student selection exam for the 2025-2026 school year was held in Ho Chi Minh City with 9,882 contestants participating.
According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, area 1 has 6,781 candidates, area 2 has 1,159 candidates and area 3 has 1,142 candidates.
Area 1 organizes exams at points: Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Trung Vuong High School, Bui Thi Xuan High School and Gia Dinh High School.
Area 2 is for the exam at Vo Minh Duc High School, and area 3 is for the exam at Le Quy Don Specialized High School.
Contest participants are 12th grade students studying at general schools, with academic and training results in the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year from good or higher, and are also members of the excellent student team of the participating units.
The subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, English, Japanese, French, Chinese, Technology (industrial orientation) and Technology (agricultural orientation) are tested in essay form, the exam time is 120 minutes.
Informatics subject uses C++, Pascal and Python programming languages.
According to the regulations of the Department of Education and Training, 12th grade students in the official team participating in the national excellent student exam do not participate in the city-level exam, while 12th grade students of specialized schools and schools with specialized classes are required to take the exam.
