This is the first grade 12 excellent student exam organized after the merger of provinces and cities.
According to statistics, area 1 has 6,781 candidates, area 2 has 1,159 candidates and area 3 has 1,142 candidates.
Area 1 organizes exams at points: Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Trung Vuong High School, Bui Thi Xuan High School, Gia Dinh High School.
Exam area 2 at Vo Minh Duc High School.
Zone 3 exam at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), the subjects participating in the exam are students who are in 12th grade at general schools, have good or better academic and training results in the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year, and are members of the excellent student team of the participating units.
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, English, Japanese, French, Chinese (foreign language subjects with listening tests), Technology (Industrial orientation), Technology (Agricultural orientation) are tested in essay form.
Informatics subject with C++, Pascal and Python programming languages.
The exam subjects have a duration of 120 minutes.
The Department of Education and Training reminds 12th grade students in the (official) excellent student team of the city participating in the national exam not to participate in the exam.
12th grade students of specialized schools and schools with specialized classes must participate.
Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training organizes individual prizes (First, Second, Third) according to each exam subject.
Prize ratio for the exam subject: 5% first prize, 20% second prize and 35% third prize out of the total number of students taking the exam.
