27 people hospitalized after boarding meal at a primary school in Sa Dec

Dong Thap - 27 students and teachers at a primary school in Sa Dec hospitalized after a semi-boarding meal.

On the afternoon of May 20, the People's Committee of Sa Dec ward, Dong Thap province, said that it had a quick report on the case of 25 students and 2 teachers' families of Kim Dong Primary School being hospitalized for treatment due to suspected food poisoning after a semi-boarding meal.

According to reports, from 9:00 AM on May 19 to 9:00 AM on May 20, there were 27 cases of hospitalization, including 25 students and 2 teachers' families.

Among them, 25 cases are being treated at Sa Dec General Hospital, 2 cases are being treated at Phuong Chau Sa Dec Hospital. All of the above cases used meals at Kim Dong Primary School on May 18.

The morning menu includes white rice, pork shumai, sweet cabbage soup with shrimp, water spinach and bananas; in the afternoon there is banh su. Patients showed symptoms of fever, nausea and diarrhea from about 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm on May 18, then were monitored at home.

From 9:00 AM on May 19 to 4:00 AM on May 20, these cases were hospitalized for treatment. Among them, 2 students showed signs of convulsions. According to statistics, the number of suspected poisoning cases includes 25 students out of a total of 505 boarding students at the school on May 18 and 2 teachers' families.

Sa Dec Ward People's Committee has issued a decision to conduct an unexpected inter-sectoral inspection of food safety for Kim Dong Elementary School. At the same time, Sa Dec 1 Regional Medical Center coordinated with the locality to investigate and handle the case according to regulations. Sa Dec General Hospital and Phuong Chau Sa Dec Hospital have received, monitored and treated cases with suspected symptoms of food poisoning in a timely manner.

Currently, functional agencies are coordinating to verify the cause of the incident, monitor the patient's health progress and wait for test results to assess the cause and handle it according to regulations.
