On the morning of May 30, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a conference on Training on Inspection and Testing of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam for Departments of Education and Training and higher education institutions in the Southern region.
Mr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management of the Ministry of Education and Training - said that the 2025 high school graduation exam regulations will have 6 new points for candidates taking the current education program exam.
The first new point is that the exam is organized into 3 rounds, including 1 Literature exam, 1 Math exam and 1 optional exam. Candidates will be arranged according to the optional exam combination to optimize the exam room and exam scores.
Second, use a combination of assessment scores for the learning process (academic transcript) and exam results in the consideration of graduation recognition at a ratio of 50-50. The average score of each year is calculated by weight.
Third, foreign language certificates continue to be used for exemption from the exam in graduation recognition, but are not converted to a 10-point score in graduation recognition as before. The formula for calculating graduation scores does not have foreign language scores in this case.
Fourth, eliminate the addition of vocational certificate points for all candidates; eliminate the addition of foreign language certificate points, vocational secondary degrees for candidates in continuing education.
Fifth, allow foreign candidates to use Vietnamese certificates to exempt from the Literature exam in the recognition of high school graduation.
Sixth, add a method of transporting exam questions from the exam council's exam setting location to the exam questions printing points of 63 provinces and cities through the encrypted and secure communication system of the Government Equipment Committee.
The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27. This is the first year of the graduation exam according to the new general education program 2018.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's exam has more than 1.16 million candidates registered to take the exam, an increase of about 100,000 students compared to 2024, of which about 25,000 students took the exam under the 2006 program.
