On August 14, at the press conference for August 2026, Director of the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) of An Giang province Tran Quang Bao informed about the school arrangement situation in the province.
To prepare well for the new school year 2026-2027, the Department has coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to advise the Provincial People's Committee on a project and plan to arrange, reorganize, and reduce the number of preschool, general, continuing, and vocational education institutions in the province. The Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision approving the Plan on August 6, 2026. In the near future, the Department will continue to coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to advise the Provincial People's Committee to complete the arrangement before August 30, 2026.
Specifically, for kindergartens and general schools directly under communes, wards, and special zones: merge and reorganize to 562 schools, a decrease of 613 focal points compared to July 1, 2025 (the rate of focal point reduction reached 52.2%, exceeding 22.2% compared to the minimum target).
For specialized schools and specialized schools: maintain the current 3 specialized schools and 1 specialized school (Disabled Children); merge 7 Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary Schools and 2 Ethnic Minority Boarding High Schools into 2 Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary & High Schools.
For units directly under the Department of Education and Training merging with units directly under communes, wards, and special zones to form inter-level schools, including: Kien Hai TH-THCS and THPT, Lai Son TH-THCS and THPT (Kien Hai special zone); Vinh Hanh THCS and THPT, Vinh Hanh commune (merging Vinh Hanh THCS into Vinh Nhuan THCS and THPT); Tan Thanh THCS and THPT, Tan Hoi commune (merging Tan Thanh THCS into Cay Duong THPT); Long Binh THCS and THPT, Khanh Binh commune (merging Khanh Binh THCS into Long Binh THCS and THPT); Vinh Loc THCS and THPT, Phu Huu commune (merging Phu Huu THCS into Vinh Loc THCS and THPT).
For 9 Centers and Clusters of Vocational Education and Continuing Education Centers, 2 Provincial-level Continuing Education Centers: maintain the status quo due to arrangement before July 1, 2025.

For Vocational Education institutions: maintain the status quo of 2 intermediate schools (An Giang Technical - General Intermediate School, An Giang Technical - Technology Intermediate School); There is a relocation inside An Giang 1 Intermediate School, specifically separating facility 1 of An Giang 1 Intermediate School (formerly Ethnic Minority Boarding Vocational Intermediate School, located in Long Thanh commune) to merge into An Giang Ethnic Minority Boarding Vocational Intermediate School to suit the type of school and class; separating facility 5 of An Giang 1 Intermediate School (formerly Vietnam - Korea Phu Quoc Intermediate School) to re-establish Vietnam - Korea Phu Quoc Intermediate School, after separation, An Giang 1 Intermediate School will have 1 main point and 3 facilities (U Minh Thuong, Tan Hiep and Long Xuyen Quadrangle). These units will be renamed Vocational Secondary Schools after the guidance document of the Ministry of Education and Training is issued to start the 2027-2028 school year.
With the policy of arranging, reducing focal points, streamlining the management apparatus, strongly innovating thinking and methods of education management, strongly shifting from the thinking of "education management" to "education development management", optimizing the team of management officials, teachers, and staff combined with the results of recruiting civil servants in the education and training sector in a timely manner.
Mr. Tran Quang Bao also added: "Up to now, the Department has announced 1,198 successful candidates. Therefore, in the 2026-2027 school year, the Education sector of An Giang province basically meets the demand for teachers with the principle that where there are students, there are teachers.
Currently, the Department and localities are urgently completing the Project, stabilizing the organization to prepare for operation for the new school year 2026-2027.
