Schools in Ho Chi Minh City gradually reorganize semi-boarding after mergers

Chân Phúc |

After the 2026-2027 school year begins, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City are gradually reorganizing semi-boarding; including schools that have set operating days again.

The new school year has just begun, and the organization of semi-boarding at schools in Ho Chi Minh City has not yet been deployed simultaneously. At some newly merged schools, the increase in student size along with requirements for facilities, personnel, legal procedures and food safety make semi-boarding plans need more time to prepare.

At Trung Nhat Primary School (Cau Kieu ward), it is expected to reorganize semi-boarding activities from tomorrow (September 10), and at the same time organize 2 sessions/day of teaching.

Previously, the school temporarily suspended the organization of semi-boarding services at the headquarters and 2 branches from July 7 to the end of September 9. During this time, students throughout the school study 1 session/day and finish school according to the time frame deviated between grades.

According to the school, the temporary suspension of semi-boarding is to implement state management of food safety, and at the same time have more time to prepare facilities, management personnel and student care after the school is established.

Trung Nhat Primary School was established on the basis of merging 3 schools including Dong Ba Primary School, Trung Nhat Primary School and Cau Kieu Primary School.

At Chanh Hung Secondary School (Chanh Hung ward), after 2 days of temporary suspension of semi-boarding, this activity has been reorganized from today (September 9).

Meanwhile, Dang Tran Con Primary School cannot reorganize semi-boarding right at the beginning of the school year. Ms. Pham Thuy Ha, Principal of the school, said that the school plans to reorganize semi-boarding after September 21, after completing repairs and cleaning of semi-boarding areas.

Some items at the school are still in the process of upgrading and completing, so lunch and nap activities at the school cannot be implemented immediately," Ms. Ha said.

As for Nguyen Van Troi Elementary School, Mr. Tat Quoc Thang, the school principal, said that the unit is currently unable to reorganize semi-boarding because it is completing related procedures after merging 3 schools.

The school is compiling dossiers to carry out procedures for legal entities, seals and public procurement according to regulations.

According to Mr. Thang, the organization of semi-boarding still depends on many steps in the process, so it is not yet possible to confirm the specific deployment time.

The school is trying to complete the procedures as soon as possible to reduce difficulties for parents in picking up and dropping off students in broad daylight," Mr. Thang said.

Previously, Lao Dong newspaper reported that many schools in Ho Chi Minh City could not organize semi-boarding right when the new school year started. This caused many parents to change their work schedules, arrange people to pick up and drop off and take care of their children during the time between two school sessions.

Reality at schools shows that the time to reorganize semi-boarding depends on the specific conditions of each unit, especially after the process of arranging and merging schools. Besides the requirement to soon stabilize 2-session/day schooling, schools must also ensure facilities, personnel and food safety conditions before resuming semi-boarding activities.
