On February 27, 2026, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 356/QD-TTg on the transfer and assignment of the position of Acting Minister of Education and Training (MOET).
According to the Decision effective from the date of signing, Mr. Hoang Minh Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi - was transferred to work at the Ministry of Education and Training and assume the position of Acting Minister.
Mr. Hoang Minh Son was born on September 25, 1969, native of Me So commune, Hung Yen province; was admitted to the Party on December 30, 2004; has a high-level political theory qualifications. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2006; holds a PhD in Automation Engineering, a PhD in German and a University degree in Electrical Engineering.
During his work, Mr. Hoang Minh Son worked for many years at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (from 2000 to 2020). He used to be a Lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (now the Institute of Electrical Engineering), Head of the Training Department (from 2000 to 2014), Vice Rector (from April 2014), Rector (from July 2015) and Chairman of the School Council from August 2020.
From October 2020 to September 2025, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Education and Training. At the 1st Party Congress of the Ministry of Education and Training (August 21, 2025), he was appointed to participate in the Executive Committee of the Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry for the term 2025–2030.
On September 3, 2025, according to Decision No. 1885/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, he was appointed Chairman of the Council, Director of Hanoi National University.
On January 22, 2026, at the 14th National Party Congress, he was elected as a member of the 14th Central Committee of the Party.
