In the most serious case, VMC (born in 2008, residing in Sung Tra commune, Meo Vac, Ha Giang), a student of the K57 Intermediate Electricity class, was hospitalized on August 29 and died on August 31.
On the morning of September 4, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Tien Luat - Vice Principal of Thai Nguyen Industrial College said that after the incident, the unit coordinated with relevant agencies to disinfect the dormitory area.
"Currently, 11 students are being monitored at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. One student is being treated at the National Children's Hospital. Apart from one death, the health of the other students has basically stabilized. So far, no other students have been found to have any unusual symptoms.
The exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined. The students' living and eating habits are closely monitored," said Mr. Luat.
According to the Vice Principal of Thai Nguyen Industrial College, the unit has agreed to postpone the school schedule, students living nearby will return home, students living far away will remain in the dormitory. Only when there are accurate results will there be a plan to return to school.
On the same day, information from the Thai Nguyen Provincial Department of Health said that after the incident, the initial consultation did not detect any disease factors. Samples have been sent and results are pending from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
