From student dreams to more than 30 years of teaching
Born into a family with a tradition of studiousness, since she was still in school, teacher Bui Thi Dung (Gia Khanh Primary School, Gia Loc commune, Hai Phong city) has nurtured the dream of becoming a teacher. After graduating from high school, she took the entrance exam to the Pedagogical University and began her journey to be attached to the teaching profession - a journey that in her sharing, is the "fate" of life.
More than 30 years have passed, teacher Bui Thi Dung still maintains her simplicity and gentleness in every word and gesture. Her benevolent face, gentle voice, and approachable behavior make students easily feel secure and confident.
In her professional work, she always focuses on innovating teaching methods, arousing students' eagerness to learn and creativity, helping them develop comprehensively in both abilities and qualities. For her, each lesson is not just a literacy class, but also a lesson about how to be human, about kindness, compassion and responsibility.
I always think that if we only teach children to be good at knowledge but forget to teach them to be human, it is not enough. The most important thing is to help children become people who know how to love, know how to live decently and be responsible to themselves, to their families and society" - Ms. Dung shared.
In her position as homeroom teacher, she is not only a teacher but also the second mother of students. She listens to and understands each student, from small joys to very childish sorrows. Especially, for special students or those in difficult circumstances, she always gives a lot of patience and tolerance.
She chooses to talk and reform with closeness, not imposing, not burdening. Many children who were once a concern for families and schools, thanks to her persistent companionship, have now grown up, have stable jobs, have a place in society, and built a peaceful life.

The kind mother of students, the support of colleagues
Currently, Ms. Dung is the homeroom teacher of class 1A, Gia Khanh Elementary School. In the class, there is Bui Ba Hai Nam - a student with a special situation when his mother just passed away due to blood cancer. Understanding the great loss for a child who is still too young, she pays special attention to him, not only in his studies but also in his spiritual life.
She regularly encourages, is close, and at the same time calls on and mobilizes parents in the class to join hands to support, helping her have more conditions to study and live.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Head of the Parents' Association of class 1A - commented: "Ms. Dung is not only teaching but is truly the second mother of the children. For students in difficult circumstances, she is always the first person to stand out to care for and connect parents to share. We parents trust and cherish her kindness.
In her position as Head of Professional Group, Ms. Bui Thi Dung is a solid support for colleagues. With solid expertise and a high sense of responsibility, she is always enthusiastic in fostering and supporting teachers in the group.
Young teachers who have just graduated receive sincere and open advice. When there are difficult lessons or professional problems, she is willing to exchange and discuss with members to find solutions, helping each lesson achieve the best quality.
Thanks to that leadership, the professional team is always united, attached, and supports each other like sisters in a family. She once participated in the Advisory Group, supporting 6 teachers to achieve the title of Excellent Teacher at the district level, 1 teacher to achieve the title of Excellent Teacher at the provincial level - numbers clearly show her role, prestige and professional capacity.
With persistent contributions, she was awarded the Third-class Labor Medal by the State, Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and many Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Commendation from all levels and sectors. In January 2026, she was proposed by the State to be considered for the title "Excellent Teacher" - a worthy recognition for more than 30 years of dedication to the profession.
But for teacher Bui Thi Dung, the greatest reward is still the student's eyes, the parents' trust, and the maturity of generations of students. As she herself once said: "The title is an honor, but what makes me happiest is being in class every day, seeing my children grow up in love and knowledge.
