On December 5, Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU-HCM) held a conference to summarize the work of filtering the Southern Group and the 2025 competency assessment exam, and at the same time deploy the plan for 2026.
VNU-HCM said that in 2026, it will organize 2 exams in 15 provinces and cities.
In round 1, candidates will register to take the exam from January 24, 2026 to February 23, 2026. The exam takes place on April 5, 2026.
Round 2, candidates registered from April 18, 2026 to April 25, 2026. The exam takes place on May 24, 2026.
The exam structure will be kept stable, while continuing to improve and perfect the content of exam questions in the direction of international standardization, ensuring reliability and high classification ability.
In addition, it will strengthen supervision and fraud prevention, strongly applying technology in exam scoring and judging to improve accuracy and transparency.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Cao Vinh - Deputy Director of VNU-HCM - said that the goal of each exam session must be safe, serious, and at the same time provide maximum support for candidates and training institutions to select suitable and quality candidates.
According to VNU-HCM, in 2025, the competency assessment exam will have more than 152,000 candidates taking the exam, with over 223,000 registrations at 55 exam locations in 25 provinces/cities across the country.
The exam results are used by 111 higher education institutions in admissions; in the VNU-HCM system alone, this method accounts for about 56.32% of the target.
Regarding the results of the Southern Group virtual filtering work, VNU-HCM said that it has coordinated synchronously, handling more than 1.59 million wishes, with 87/87 higher education institutions participating. The average virtual rate is 172%.
