New school is being completed
In the last days of August, the construction site of A Mu Sung Primary and Secondary Boarding School is still bustling with the sound of machines and workers. About 150 workers are maintained, focusing on completing the final parts.
According to the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the administration building blocks, classrooms, subject classrooms, dormitories, teacher dormitories, and kitchens are basically completed. Workers are urgently cleaning the works, connecting electricity and water systems, installing equipment and completing the remaining items.
At the construction site, the final parts are being deployed simultaneously. Some complete details in the classroom, some clean the corridor, some check the electricity and water systems. From an area still littered with materials, new rows of houses are gradually completing their appearance, ready to welcome students.
Similarly, 3 other boarding school projects in Y Ty, Muong Khuong and Pha Long are also entering the completion phase. In Y Ty, school items are being accelerated in the context of erratic highland weather conditions. Workers are taking advantage of every day to complete the final tasks, and at the same time check the electricity, water, classroom area and boarding living areas.
In Muong Khuong and Pha Long, construction units are also focusing manpower to complete the project. Sanitation, equipment installation, and technical condition inspection are being implemented in parallel with the remaining construction works.
Preparing the best "home" for students in border areas
With the characteristics of students in border areas living scattered, many of whom live far from the center, investing in boarding schools not only solves the need for classrooms but also creates conditions for them to study, eat, and live stably.
In the new schools, besides classrooms, there are also dormitories, dining rooms, kitchens, subject classrooms, teacher dormitories and common living spaces. This will be a place for students to study, rest, eat and participate in educational activities throughout their time at school.
Therefore, along with the race to complete the project, the education sector and localities are developing plans to arrange management staff, teachers, and staff. At the same time, preparing accommodation conditions, organizing kitchens, health care, managing students outside of school hours and ensuring safety during their activities at school.
According to the leader of Muong Khuong Commune People's Committee, the enrollment of nearly 1,000 students is being implemented. Along with that, conditions for classrooms, dormitories, kitchens, equipment and educational activities are also being reviewed and prepared so that when the school is completed, it can be operated immediately.
Inspecting the construction progress of boarding general schools on August 22, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Phan Trung Ba emphasized that boarding schools in border areas are of great significance in creating stable learning, accommodation, and living conditions for highland students, especially those who live far from school and have difficult transportation.
Mr. Phan Trung Ba noted that completing the project on schedule, ensuring quality and putting it into effective use in the new school year is an urgent requirement. In particular, projects after completion must ensure full conditions in terms of facilities, equipment, electricity, water, classrooms, dormitories, kitchens and living conditions for students.
According to the plan, 4 boarding high school projects in A Mu Sung, Y Ty, Muong Khuong and Pha Long will be completed, ready to serve the 2026-2027 school year and will be inaugurated on September 5.
For students in border areas, this year's opening day has a more special meaning. After long journeys, schools that are still lacking and classrooms that do not fully meet needs, they will enter a new environment with classrooms, accommodation, kitchens and living spaces invested synchronously.
On August 24, information from the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, in recent days the weather in highland areas has been complicated, with heavy rain, affecting the construction process. However, units have proactively developed response plans, and at the same time taken advantage of favorable weather to reorganize construction.
Contractors focus maximum manpower and machinery and deploy tasks in a rolling manner. Areas affected by rain are urgently repaired, ensuring safety for people and equipment, and preventing weather from interrupting the overall progress. Currently, A Mu Sung and Muong Khuong schools have been basically completed and are being cleaned up. Meanwhile, at Pha Long and Y Ty schools, workers are taking advantage of every day to complete the final tasks, and at the same time check the electricity and water systems, classrooms and dormitory areas.
