On April 11, Mr. Pham Van Nam - Director of the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) of Gia Lai province - said that he had directed affiliated units to rectify the situation of make-up teaching in order to swap study time during the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
Through grasping information and feedback, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Education and Training discovered that some units organized supplementary programs with the aim of allowing students to take 9 consecutive days off during the holidays.
This may lead to incorrect adjustments to the school year plan framework, affecting the quality of teaching and learning, as well as the compliance with current regulations of the sector and the Provincial People's Committee.
To ensure the correct implementation of the school year plan, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Education and Training requests affiliated units to organize teaching and learning in accordance with the approved program, content, and progress; not to arbitrarily adjust, shorten, or concentrate periods, pushing up the program progress.
Units are absolutely not allowed to make up for teaching to swap holidays to prolong holidays. Changes in school schedule and holiday time must comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as the guidance of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training when there is an official document.
Gia Lai Department of Education and Training emphasized that, to date, the Provincial People's Committee has not had a policy to allow the exchange of working days for 9 consecutive days off. Therefore, units are not allowed to arbitrarily adjust teaching and learning schedules.
The Department will conduct inspections and supervisions, including surprise inspections at units and schools. If violations are detected, responsibility will be handled according to regulations," Mr. Nam informed.
